Who gives a fig?

Am I the only one who loves figs?  They are one of the sexiest fruits. The shape, the texture, the colour and that’s before you even bite  into the fruit.  They’re such a deep, dark, divine colour.  They feel velvety, smooth when you run your fingers over them.

Cut into them and you’ve got this juicy, fleshy, sweet filling, with the most unusual texture.  Some like to wrap parma ham around slices of fig, but I favour figs with chocolate.  Next time I make my rich chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, I will strategically place some figs on and around my cake.  It will make a delightful centrepiece, plus a decadent, seductive treat.

In France we eat figues with foie gras more than with cakes, but with cocolate it sounds very good.
