So what makes you bake?

You know what’s in it
When you make a homemade cake, there’s none of the gunk that a shop-bought cake might have.

You do your bit for the environment
Home baking means that you simply take your cake out of the oven, out of the cake tin and place it on a plate. There’s no box, cellophane, wrapping or labelling to think about.

You’re the Cake Boss
When you bake, you get to choose exactly what goes into your cake. You can select the best ingredients from premium brands, or you go no-frills, it’s entirely up to you.

You get to play around

Home baking allows you to experiment. When my mother used to bake, she never weighed or measured a thing. It was always just:
• a spoonful of this
• a sprinkle of that
• a pinch of the other
• and a glug of the good stuff
Sometimes, that’s the fun in baking.

Room for improvement
The more you bake at home, you can modify your recipes and put your own stamp on them…Even hand these recipes down to your family.

Get excited and bake things

Healthy Option
Just as you know what goes into your cakes, you can also make healthier versions of your cakes:
• free-range eggs
• wholemeal flour
• apple sauce to sweeten and moisten
• low-fat soft cheese: same dreamy creamy taste, but less on the hips
• skimmed milk: means skimming on the calories

Lick the bowl
The best reasons
The smell…there’s nothing more homely than a house with the aroma of baking.
The taste…You can’t beat the taste of a home baked cake.
Homebaked cakes include that special ingredient; love…how coud you resist a cake made like this!
