Bricking it

For half-term, I treated my daughters to a trip to the cinema, to see the LEGO Movie; we had a lot of fun. It reminded me of the LEGO cake, I created for one of my favourite customers; Noah (well actually, it’s his mum who orders the cakes, but each year, I love the cool concepts he likes to dream up, in cake).

LEGO Cake 1

This lemon drizzle cake with lemon curd filling, is covered with fondant and decorated to look like a LEGO brick, with tiny bricks made out of fondant. I really enjoyed making this cake, as it is colourful and just screams ‘fun’ to me. I even had a go at creating the LEGO logo in fondant.

LEGO Cake 2

In the week I was making this cake, Warren Elsmore had recreated St.Pancras Station and Hotel with LEGO bricks (which is not too far away from the Delights Kitchen). It took 500 hours to recreate and over 180,000 bricks.

Here’s a picture of Noah and his cake, surrounded by his friends. I wonder what the theme for his cake will be next year?

Here's Noah with his friends and the cake.
