Cover Girl

If you are a cake maker or decorator, are you a ‘cover girl?’(Of course, I shouldn’t be so sexist, but you will catch my drift, shortly). I know that people in the cake world either strongly agree or disagree with me on this one.

I am a cover girl –Whenever I decorate a cake, I always present my cakes on a fondant covered board or drum, because:
• it actually protects the cake
• it gives the cake a more professional finish
• I can’t stand the site of the silver foil, used to cover boards (I know that you can now get a variety of coloured metallic boards, but to me, the look is dated)
• Covering the cake board or drum gives you the opportunity to fully co-ordinate the cake, or introduce a completely new colour or texture to add some ‘pop’.

Here’s a few I have prepared in the past:

So are you a Cover Girl (or boy perhaps)?
